Social Networking

Interesting use of Social networking tools by libraries and museums. I can see it as a great way to get feedback from users and form focus groups. Not sure of the accuracy of the LeMonde map. From what I've seen in the library Bebo is the most popular among our users - especially the teens. Perhaps being an extreme introvert I find the idea of social networking personally off-putting. Being on ex-chat addict tho I did find it disappointing the second life links don't seem to be working and I couldn't visit the virtual libraries.

Online applications

Wow. But what happens when six people are trying to edit the same documnet at the same time? I like Zoho - it has everything in one spot. Who needs Microsoft eh?

Mashups

Not all that impressed with Big Huge Labs but I can see the potential. Are the images of books on the catalogue a use of mashups?

Here's a christmas card I created Merry Christmas

Slamming the boards

I know I'm picky but.....does best answer really count if it's the ONLY answer? LOL
Yahoo answer boards seems to be down a lot for maintenance, or do I just have really bad timing?

LibraryThing

Wow - free books! Not sure about the recomendations though. How does Training your labrador retriever relate to Caligraphy: first steps?

Videos

This link - hopefully :-P - is one that really moved me. I have a lovely little maltese that's the darling of everyone who meets her. The breed take a lot of grooming but I can't believe anyone with a soul could let any creature get into the condition of some of the dogs in this clip. I have nothing for respect for the people who have rescued and rehomed them.

Just added some photos to the Chermside photo gallery. Not very ellegantly though as I found it difficult to place the photos where I wanted them. Grrr. But at least they're there.

Bloglines and RSS

The challenge for this exercise was to find 5 sites I wanted to subscribe to. There is so much out there and most of it I'd be just as happy never having read. Eventually I decided on the final five. They are Powerhouse museum, Librarian.net, Publishers weekly, and my favorites - Boys blokes and books, and The shifted librarian (at last Web 2.0 I can understand).
